Club Service
Rotary’s first Avenue of Service involves actions a Rotarian must take within the club to help it function successfully. Its purpose is to foster successful administration of the Rotary Club and to direct internal functions of the club to maintain its health and vigour.
Club members become involved by participating in club fellowship, club programmes, serving on committees, on the club's board of directors and by representing the club in external activities that could include the propagation of the objects of Rotary, speaking at other clubs, attending inter-city meetings, district conferences and by helping organise new Rotary clubs.
Effective Rotary club administration involves organizing people and resources to achieve common goals. Clubs must operate efficiently to provide service to the community, attract and retain members, and develop leaders for the club, district, and Rotary International.
In most Rotary clubs, administrative responsibilities include:
- Planning and organizing weekly meetings and programs
- Promoting fellowship among club members
- Keeping members informed through a club newsletter or Web site
- Collecting dues 57
- Maintaining club membership lists and reporting to Rotary International
- Tracking club attendance
The Standard Rotary Club Constitution (PDF) outlines administrative requirements that every club must satisfy. The Recommended Rotary Club Bylaws (PDF), which can be tailored to suit each club’s needs, also includes administrative procedures.
The Club Leadership Plan is the recommended administrative structure for Rotary clubs.
Club Leadership Plan
The Club Leadership Plan, though not mandatory, is the recommended administrative structure for Rotary clubs. It is based on the best practices of effective Rotary clubs. These best practices include:
- Developing long-range goals that address the elements of an effective club and annual goals to support them
- Convening regular club assemblies
- Involving all club members in the activities and fellowship of the club
- Maintaining open lines of communication
- Ensuring continuity in leadership
- Providing regular, consistent training
The plan can be customized to fit each Rotary club’s needs.
CLUB SERVICE AT ROTARY CLUB OF HYDERABAD DECCAN:
In our club the Club Services has been divided into Club Service-I, Club Service-II and Club Service-III.
The Club Service-I is chaired by the resourceful Rtn.Prashant Shrimal and consists of Programmes, Rotary Information, Public Relations, Club History, Membership Development And Retention, Attendance And Classification, Web-Site And E-Groups, Dist. Events & Joint Meetings and External Extension.
The Club Service-II chaired by Rtn.Anil Bantia consists of Fellowships, Holidays & Excursions, Club Bulletin & Magazine, Sports, Ann Activities, Annet Activities and Club Constitution.
The Club Service-III chaired by Rtn.Rajesh Agarwal consists of Fund Raising.
A unique and very successful concept adopted by us is the ‘Fellowship Group Concept’ whereby a complete month’s programmes are arranged by the concerned month’s fellowship group, in consultation with the President and Secretary. Apart from reducing the burden on the President and Secretary, it brings in a lot of variety and change in the programmes each month.
